A case for moral politics

When it comes to public policy, often there is a misunderstanding about what drives people to come to the polls. I think that the main reason it is so easy for the right to deceive so many people is that they intrinsically understand the psychology of their side. They also understand that morality trumps fact-based policy making. The ability to tell a good story, to sell your moral vision to your constituents, is the primary motivation for getting your side to turn out. The current Democratic Party in the United States gave up creating a moral vision and decided to … Continue reading A case for moral politics

The Wonderful world of Ham: JoJo’s Bizarre adventure

The power system in JoJo’s Bizarre adventure is literally called hamon. I thought I heard the spanish word for ham jamon, and well it is the same pronounciation, it isn’t the same word. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is so earnest with its weirdness and funky fresh vibe, I cannot help but love it. The adventures of the Joestar family are entertaining, awesome and even heartwarming. I cannot help being entertained by the zaniness of the characters and the epic battles that ensue. However, the power system is the one I most enjoy. Similarly to other harder power systems like Nen in … Continue reading The Wonderful world of Ham: JoJo’s Bizarre adventure

Shade Reviews: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

Spiderman:into the spiderverse was the best Marvel film released this year. I know that’s a very big claim considering the other titan that is Avengers: Infinity war. However, I teared up, laughed and was charmed by this living comic book of a movie. And that is the best way to describe the vibrant, frenetic, living, breathing, animation of this film. Sony Pictures, who still cling desperately onto the copyright of arguably one of the most valuable superhero franchises out there, had had more misses than hits and more often that not, the best is normally just okay. However, this movie … Continue reading Shade Reviews: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

Shade Rants: Jordan B Peterson: World’s worst psychologist

I really despise people who use the field of psychology for ulterior motives. Jordan B. Peterson is a great example of someone who does this. Now many people who are experts in fields, attempt to comment on politics in relation to a different field. This rarely changes the fact that their actual expertise in the field they have in career in is genuine. However, with Jordan B. Peterson, I feel especially strongly that he is a charlatan. I truly believe he has experience in the field and is able to help his clients. However, he is cynical and is a … Continue reading Shade Rants: Jordan B Peterson: World’s worst psychologist

An apology

To my esteemed readers, I have had issues blogging consistently recently and for that I do apologize. I have had ideas mulling around in my head and have been dealing with a bout of depression. I will try to blog more consistently so that I have a good record approaching Halloween. My goal is to have at least three of my Muertos stories complete by then. Or at least, I would like to have drafts of all three. Understand that for everything I blog on here, I am always trying to improve whatever I post. Cheers and have a spooky … Continue reading An apology

Dias de los Muertos: Lunes pt 1-3

Carter punched his younger brother in the side hard. The younger boy cried out in pain and squealed. “Hey grasshopper, we are here” Carter said while grinning like a loon. Ken, blinked the tears out of his eyes and looked around to see the fields of wine stalks that made up the vineyards surrounding his grandfather’s ranch. Ken and his elder brother Carter were going with their eldest sister Sayu to stay at their grandparent’s place for a month. Neither of the boys wanted to go, but it was important to their grandparents and so it was important to their … Continue reading Dias de los Muertos: Lunes pt 1-3

Dias de los Muertos Lunes: pt 3

Before either brother could say anything they heard their sister calling them. The two boys exchanged knowing looks and proceeded to join their sister. The courtyard in the center of the temple always made Carter feel queasy. The area smelled of jasmine and other sweet odors that turned his stomach. The incense was always heavy and the entire area was dominated by many candles and elaborate candelabras. Tall statuary of various ethereal creatures and many armed humanoid monstrosities stood in the corners of the courtyard. These stone behemoths were eerie sentinels and always made whoever entered the courtyard uneasy. Sitting … Continue reading Dias de los Muertos Lunes: pt 3

Dias de los Muertos: Lunes part 2

Grandfather and Grandmother were extremely old school and insisted in being addressed as Grandfather and Grandmother. The ranch was their pride and joy and had been their special place for as long as Carter could remember. Ken and Carter followed Sayu and sniggered as she fumbled with the keys and even almost tripped again on her kimono. Sayu glared at them and this just made both of the brothers grin like idiots as she looked like a cute chipmunk when she glared at people. Suddenly with a loud crack that startled all three, the door flew open. An elderly woman … Continue reading Dias de los Muertos: Lunes part 2

ITS OCTOBER HELLLLLLLLLLLL YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Sorry for a lack of posts recently but I wanted to make sure that I had good material to write and was in the right mood. For my birthday I will be going to the beach and hopefully being near the beach will spark my creativity. If nothing else, I will have an updated and better version of Dias de los Muertos: Sabado. I have gotten some great advice from other people and have a pretty good idea on how to make the story better. If you liked that story, I hope the new version will … Continue reading Update
