Aquaman Review: Unda the sea badadadada

Aquaman was a pleasant surprise. It was the first good DC theatrical release that I saw in years, that was engaging and fun. Imagine Black Panther meets Asgard underwater. I know it seems cliche but the comparisons between Aquaman and the Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther are really there. All involve a prince learning whether or not he is a worthy king. All three have fantastic arena/ collisseum fights. And all three are good movies. Please do not misunderstand me. I feel that the two MCU entries are overall fun films and I think they are slightly better. However, I … Continue reading Aquaman Review: Unda the sea badadadada

Social Democracy: A critique

Franklin Delanore Roosevelt’s New Deal was arguably one of the most important pieces of legislation ever put forth by any President. It is seen as the crowning acheivement of the left in the United States. The New Deal was essentially using government to regulate the market and subsidize new jobs in order to stimulate the economy. This type of economics was called Keynesian economics, or demand side economics. The central idea was that if the consumer wasn’t able to increase demand due to lack of spending power, everyone loses. Capitalism requires consumption and constant growth. Profit is the central idea … Continue reading Social Democracy: A critique

Knock Knock: Disappointing Pizza

I am a fan of Eli Roth, and I was looking forward to seeing Knock Knock. I admit as a young man, the attractive females were a part of the reason I wanted to see the film. But that doesn’t mean that I cannot recognize a good film. Eli Roth however, is a hit or miss kind of guy, in my opinion. I really enjoyed Cabin Fever and thought it was easily his best film I’ve seen that he has directed. I even sort of enjoyed Aftershock, as it was tense and a fast moving ride. I don’t hate dark … Continue reading Knock Knock: Disappointing Pizza

Calvalcade of Conservative Cockwombles (CCC) Ben Shapiro

Trigger warning for republican and right wing people: this is a scathing takedown of people you hold dear. I do not apologize for speaking the truth about this reprehensible individuals. So buck up snowflakes. Conservative is a word that is thrown around a lot and is rarely meant in the traditional definition. After all, one could make a great case that many right wing parties in the world are not actually conservative at all. Conservative, if I were to identify it, describes a person who is concerned with protecting old customs traditions, and is resistant to hasty changes. Conservatives resist … Continue reading Calvalcade of Conservative Cockwombles (CCC) Ben Shapiro

The National Anthem is dumb

The sheer delusional devotion to the National anthem and to the pledge of allegiance is very frustrating to me. Why the hell does it matter so much to people? Most people don’t believe in everything their country does in their name. They certainly hate paying taxes. So what the hell is all this about? It is about posturing and making themselves feel better. It gets them some sort of posturing as ethical people. But what is so good about blind nationalism or patriotism? What exactly is so purely good about it? Does any country on earth have a purely good … Continue reading The National Anthem is dumb

Author’s thoughts

Hey fam, this is your author Shade here reflecting on my first major short story I’ve completed on here. The Dias de los Muertos series of short stories is something I’ve been dreaming up for a while but this first story is very spicy. In the world today, the crisis facing young men is quite staggering. However, many do not take a path that I personally would. The success of right wing crazies around the world is partially due to alienation and the inability of young men to make their way in the world. I sympathize as, I too have … Continue reading Author’s thoughts

Gaming Masala: Elder Scrolls

Gaming Masala is a new blog post type in which I type about certain controversial opinions I have about video games and anything related to video games. First of all, if you disagree with me, I think that’s awesome. I don’t think it reflects poorly on you if we disagree. In fact, I recognize that I often like things others don’t. This means I expect people not to agree with me on some things. I am interested in what you disagree with me about and your reasoning so feel free to comment and rebut. However, I will not tolerate any … Continue reading Gaming Masala: Elder Scrolls
